Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

Building a Christ-like Character (Ga 5:19-26)

  1. What is a “character”? From where can we trace our spiritual and moral character (Ge 1:26)? What is the will of God for His people regarding having a right character (Ge 18:19; Ex 19:6)?

  1. What are the acts of the flesh that possibly reflect an anti-Christ-like character (Ga 5:19-21a)? What is a stern warning against having such a character and such acts (21b)?

  1. What is the fruit of the Spirit that possibly reflects a Christ-like character (Ga 5:22-23)? What is one of the ways that we can grow in our Christ-like character (24)? What can we do more in nourishing our character (25-26)?

Character Formation and Discipleship (Ro 5:3-5; Ac 17:10-12)

  1. Why is it essential for a disciple to learn perseverance amid sufferings with regard to forming a character (Ro 5:3-4a)? What is the byproduct of forming our character (4b-5)? How does the love of God help in our character formation?

  1. Why is it significant for one to have a noble character before and after the Bible study (Ac 17:10-12)? What is the relationship between one’s character formation and discipleship?
