PARTICIPATING IN JESUS’ SUFFERINGS AND GLORY
Hebrews 12:1-11, 1 Peter 4:12-19 (Key Verse: 1 Peter 4:13)

“But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”

1. What sufferings did Jesus endure on earth (physically, emotionally and spiritually) (Ps 22:1, 6-8, 14-18)? What are God’s purpose and the meaning of Jesus’ sufferings (Ac 2:23; Lk 24:27; Jn 1:29; Heb 2:17-18)?

2. What was the source of Jesus’ enduring the cross (Heb 12:2-3)? What did Jesus learn from sufferings and to what extent did Jesus suffer (Heb 5:8; Php 2:8)?

3. What sufferings are Jesus’ disciples called to participate (Ro 6:11; 2 Co 4:10; Jn 13:34-35; Mt 28:19-20)? What is the source of his disciples’ participating in Jesus’ sufferings (Heb 12:2)?

4. What are God’s purpose and the meaning of Jesus’ disciples’ sufferings (Ro 8:28-29; Jas 1:2-4; 2 Ti 2:8-10; Heb 12:7-11)? What are the glories Jesus’ disciples can participate in now and later (1 Pe 4:14; 2 Co 3:18; Php 3:20; Ro 8:18)?
