“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’”

1. Who came to John, and why did the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem send them? (19; Lk 3:15) How did John respond to them? (20-21) Why did his answers become shorter and shorter? How and on what basis did John finally identify himself? (22-23)
